  • Laser-420 Regattas mostly on TUESDAYS. (except as noted)
  • Optimist Regattas mostly on WEDNESDAYS. (except as noted)
  • In the case of 420's, it is expected that, in general, we will borrow boats from the host club, and will not take our boats unless we are forced to, in order that we can compete. Our Head Instructor needs to negotiate use of boats ahead of time. In the case of Junior Olympics, parents need to borrow or charter 420's, as available at the host club (Rochester).

** 9-10 JULY 2011 WILLOWBANK YC -- "Centrals" NY Regatta (CNYSA) + District 9 Laser Championships. This is held over the weekend. 420's, Lasers, Opties are a component of this much larger event. Opties race only on the Saturday (?). Parents are responsible for attending this regatta, but possibly we can coordinate a group and coach to this event. Check the website: Welcome to Central New York Sailing Association.

** WILLOWBANK (9-10 July) Area Qualifiers for Bemis & Smythe Cups. These are qualifiers for prestigious national youth sailing cups (in Singlehanded, Doublehanded and Triplehanded boats). If kids compete in a Qualifier, they must be prepared to go to all the Qualifiers and indeed the Nationals, or they will be taking away this opportunioty from others. Guidelines of how to compete in these regattas can be found on the web site for US Sailing (Youth):

http://www.ussailing.org/youth/

It will be necessary for a child to be a member of US Sailing to compete in these regattas. Find out more from the US Sailing Web site, but also ask Brad Buell (Sec for CNYSA):

Contact Brad Buell (IYC and CNYSA) to ask for guidelines

*** Rochester YC Junior Olympics (Fri-Sun). Junior Olympics is a 3-day event. Friday is coaching Clinic and training and fun events. Sat-Sun is a regatta. You can go for just the Friday if you like, and choose whether to do the regatta afterwards. Or you can simply go for the regatta on Sat-Sun only. Parents are responsible for attending this regatta, but possibly we can coordinate a group and coach to this event.
