Adult Sailing Private Lessons

Private lessons, for members only, are for a single student with a qualified Youth Sailing instructor. The cost is $60 for a one hour lesson or $200 for four hours. To request lessons send email to YouthSailing@IthacaYC.org. When the session(s) have been scheduled, use this page for payment.

Sailors who are a direct relation to an active IYC member get a discount of approximately 10% on the dues for the program. Member’s annual dues must be paid in full to register for the summer programs as a member.

Have you ever wanted to learn a new game that's easy to pick up, fun to play, and perfect for a summer evening by the lake?

Join us for Bocce Ball at the Ithaca Yacht Club!

Wednesdays 5:30pm on the Point beginning July 8th

No experience is necessary, and players of all ages and abilities are welcome. Whether you're a seasoned competitor or have never thrown a bocce ball before, you'll find this classic game easy to learn and enjoyable to play.

Bocce is one of the world's oldest games, with roots dating back thousands of years to ancient Rome. Today, it remains a favorite social sport because it combines strategy, friendly competition, and plenty of laughs. The objective is simple: roll your bocce balls as close as possible to the smaller target ball, known as the pallino.

Our weekly bocce gatherings are a great opportunity to meet new people, enjoy the outdoors, and experience one of the most popular recreational games in the world. We'll be happy to teach the basics, answer questions, and help everyone get involved.

Come see what bocce is all about! Grab a friend, bring your sense of fun, and join us on the court.

Join us for a fun evening of Family Line Dancing at on Friday, August 14 from 7–8 PM. No experience needed — just come ready to move, laugh, and have fun together.

Instructor Becky Sydney brings an upbeat and welcoming approach to line dancing, combining easy-to-follow instruction with great music and energy for all ages. Becky describes line dancing as both a fun workout and a “brain workout,” helping improve memory, focus, and overall well-being while keeping everyone smiling.

Becky has been teaching throughout the Finger Lakes region since 2022 and currently leads weekly classes in Ithaca.

Annual Boat Parade

The Labor Day boat parade is an IYC tradition.

All members' boats from kayaks on up are welcome to participate.

Boats line up south of The Point. At 2:00 with flags flying,

they motor or sail past the Commodores on the Point.

Each boat is greeted with a salute from the club's brass cannon.

If you are not boating, join us on The Point to watch the boats go by.

Attention IYC Boaters!

The 2026 Season has come to the end,

so for the next 6 months hold on to the memories

we all made at IYC this season,

both on the point and on the water.

The Marina will be closing November 1st .

All boats still in the Marina after that date,

unless other arrangements are made,

will be charged Winter Storage at the rates on the website.

Boats will also need to be removed from the

shoreline racks at the same time.

The gates to the harbor will be locked on November 15th.

After that date please contact the Harbormaster for special times.

I hope you all have a great Winter and

see you in the Spring!!
