Operational Guidelines for Marina - Covid-19 Safety
Here are the guidelines that were developed for 2020. This page will be updated before the 2021 season begins.
Guidelines for Marina
Regardless of specific guidelines described below, all IYC members must abide by the New York State rules of physical distancing, masking, and allowable gathering size in place at the particular time.
As part of Ithaca Yacht Club’s marina opening on May 1 2020, we provide the following rules to prevent the spread of covid-19 at our facility.
Marina Rules: Boating activities carry the same restrictions as any on-land activity until the NYS PAUSE order is lifted or modified.
Marina Bathrooms (South Pavilion): We have Tompkins County Health Department approval to open the outdoor-accessible bathrooms at the South Pavilion (and North Clubhouse) starting May 1, 2020. These bathrooms will be cleaned three time a week (Mon-Wed-Fri) by our cleaning staff, however, you should take care to hand sanitize, wear PPE, and/or perform your own cleaning of surfaces you touch in these bathrooms. Cleaning solutions are provided in the bathrooms and hand sanitizer outside the bathrooms.
Small Boat Beach: Club-owned boats (kayaks, Laser, Hobie 14) are available to our members in the small boat area. High-touch areas of these boats should be sanitized before and after use. Sanitizing spray and wiping cloths are provided in a bucket in the corner of the sail locker building. When the swimming area is open, members are asked to sign out boats prior to use (IYC member number will be required).
Social Distancing: Social gatherings on the club grounds, in marina, and on boats are restricted to groups of 25 or fewer (as of June 12, 2020). If gatherings include non-family members, social distancing rules are in effect (6 ft. or more distance, or else masks are required). IYC cannot police: you are asked to comply with these guidelines out of respect for all club members.
